Knights News · Woods Finished Third, Masters Sixth at State Tournament

West Holmes High School wrestlers Cael Woods (Soph., 106) and Tyler Masters (Soph., 113) closed out their 2018 appearance at the ‘81st Ohio High School Athletic Association DII State Championship Tournament’ with podium finishes Saturday, March 10 at Value City Arena inside the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Woods (5-1, 1 Fall) posted a pair of major decision victories in Saturday’s consolation semifinals and placement round to earn 3rd place and his second All Ohio honor in as many years, besting his 8th place finish at 113 in his freshman year.

Masters (2-3) began his first state tournament with two tight decision wins to lock up his first All Ohio podium and a spot in the semifinals.  Masters would finish sixth in the 113 pound division.

The Knights two other state qualifiers, Thane Kaufman (Sr., 120, 1 – 2) and Josh Baldridge (Jr., 182, 1 – 2), both won a match, but the end to their seasons came Friday afternoon when both lost in the consolation second round.
