The West Holmes boys track team put together tremendous performances on Saturday, May 19 at the East District track meet to finish with 113.5 points and become District Champions. The boys 4×200 relay team consisting of Michael Taylor, Brady Taylor, Jonathon Kandel and Brayden Chaney finished 1st with a time of 1:30. This time not only broke their previous record set this year, it also broke the stadium record set at West Holmes. The 4×400 relay team of Michael Taylor, Jonathon Kandel, Travett Boughman and Brayden Chaney continue to improve as they broke their own record and set the stadium record by completing the race with a time of 3:26.06.
In the 400 meter dash, Brayden Chaney broke a stadium record and placed 1st with a time of 48.87 seconds. Michael Taylor also had a strong finish in the 400 meter dash by running it in 51.72 seconds. In the 300 meter hurdles, Ethan Kinsey came back strong from an injury to finish in 2nd place with a time of 41.53 seconds. Jonathon Kandel put together a strong performance in the 800 meter run and finished 2nd with a time of 2:00 minutes. In the 200 meter dash, Brayden Chaney ran a great race and once again finished 1st with a time of 22.77 seconds.
The boys who participated in field events also did a great job at districts. Finishing 1st in Long Jump was Michael Taylor with a leap of 21 feet, 2.25 inches. In high jump, Jacob Goudy recorded a personal record and finished in 2nd place with a jump of 6 feet. Grady Hay completed a 13 foot vault in the pole vault competition and finished in 2nd place for the Knights. Rounding out the scoring in field events was Lane Graham who completed a 47 foot, 4 inch toss in Shot Put.

The West Holmes girls track team showed great effort and resiliency at the East District track meet at West Holmes on Saturday, May 19. As a team, they finished 5th place in the district by scoring a total of 54.5 team points.
Katie Sprang ran a great 800 meter race and finished with a 1st place time of 2:19. Kaylin Martin dug out a 3rd place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.11 seconds. Martin also leaped 16 feet, 3.75 inches in the Long Jump to grab a 2nd place finish.
Rounding out the scoring for the girls team was Madison Kandel in field events. She finished 2nd place in Shot Put with a toss of 37 feet, 3.5 inches and brought home a 1st place finish in Discus with a great throw of 128 feet, 8 inches.
